The European Union of Commerce in China is a non-profit organization that operates in China as the independent voice of the European business governed by its members. | After receiving his PhD at the University of Bonn in 1996, Dr Müller entered Siemens AG where he became Head of the Concepts and Presentations Unit. As the officer for Industrial and Environmental Affairs at the German Embassy in Beijing from 2004 to 2006, he coordinated Sino-German policy dialogue on renewable energy and climate change action. After this, as Vice President in the Corporate Communications & Government Affairs department of Siemens AG, he was involved in international climate policy, renewable energy issues, and the coordination of the related initiatives of the Federation of German Industry (BDI). Since 2009, Dr Müller works in the China office of the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, formerly known as GTZ), an organisation for implementing international sustainable development projects for the German Government. He is responsible for renewable energy policies and technical cooperation, especially for wind power and biogas, as well as for low carbon development of the electricity sector. The Wind Energy Research and Training centre, for example, is a Sino-German project that was successfully completed last year. It cooperated with State Grid on grid integration of wind farms and supported the introduction of `Low Voltage Fault Ride Through′ characteristics for wind turbines in China. | |
